Merry Meridian 2008

"An Old Fashion Christmas"

It’s almost time for the largest holiday celebration in East Mississippi - Merry Meridian. Presented by the Meridian Downtown Association, it is comprised of a series of events held over six days in Downtown Meridian, November 20 and December 2, 4-7. The festivities officially usher in the holiday season with each event building towards a climactic celebration with the Merry Meridian Market and Christmas Parade. An added bonus this year will be the performances of the Meridian Little Theater’s “A Christmas Carol”, the Temple Theater’s “Great Russian Nutcracker Ballet”, the Meridian Symphony Orchestra’s “Peppermint Pops” and “The Tillis Family Christmas” at the MSU Riley Center.

“This year promises to be a great one for Merry Meridian,” said Stacy Davis, the Merry Meridian chairman this year. “This is absolutely the best time to bring your family to Meridian’s historic downtown and enjoy the ambiance of the holiday season.”
Some other events held during Merry Meridian are the Live Nativity Pageant, the City of Meridian’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Holiday Windows Contest, Community-Wide Church Service, Downtown Merchants’ Holiday Open House, Merrehope’s Trees of Christmas Candlelight Tour, 5K Jingle Bell Run, Big Boy Toyland, Miss Merry Meridian Pageant and the Singing Christmas Tree at Highland Baptist Church.
